Web site/URL: Make a Pants Muslin
Shannon Gifford is an excellent teacher. She is patient, kind and seems to work almost 24-7. In this class we started with a pattern of our choice, and then went through various steps to make a pattern to fit our own body configuration.

The muslin process is not only interesting and educational, but all that sewing really gives you confidence whether you are a "sometime" sewer or a weathered veteran. We started with a muslin of your torso - waist to hip, you adjust this so that you get the correct fit for the waist, sides and hip area. Then with legs added you begin to make adjustments to the crotch area, the thigh area, the inseam and the side seams. After each muslin and each change, you post pictures to the class gallery and Shannon critiques your fit so nicely and gives you the next set of instructions for adjustments. The critiques and the instructions, and student questions and feedback are all on the class message board. When a student doesn't get it the first time, Shannon patiently re-explains, until someone as dense as I can be when it comes to this sort of thing finally sees the light, does the change and WOW - to see how those pants come along is an eye-opener. Meanwhile you accumulate lessons in pdf format which can be printed and placed in a binder which will always be there - with illustration - to have as reference for years to come.

All of us have different needs in the area of fitting, and in this class you will go a long way to solving many fitting issues. After the class I kept at this and given my body I think I have a pattern now which will be good for my use for awhile, and which I can adjust again when I need to.

I highly recommend this class.

I'm very impressed, Michelle. I remember asking you a while ago how the class was going and you were so thrilled to be taking it, as you were learning so much about sewing, fitting and adjustments. This is a class I will have to take in the future. A great review.

I am going to take as many of the online classes as possible and wanted to see what others had thought of them.

I am trying to understand how the on-line classes are done, particularly in the area of fitting a pattern. My body keeps changing! LOL! One "fit" isn't going to last very long in my case. I am getting encouraged to try an on-line course from reviews like this one. What sort of deadlines are you under during the on-line class?
