I've attended this festival at the Denver Merchandise Mart for the past 10 years. I did not take a workshop this year although there were many fine ones to choose from. I found the Fashion Show by Jan Bones and her lingere secrets to be short sweet and informative. She is a nice lady with great tips and even sells her own lingerie patterns. I came away with a great buy on Olfa rotary supplies. I did indulge in some of Sue's Sparklers iron on rhinestones for my daughter. I find these to be a bit pricey but the vendors are always VERY pleasant that I am a repeat customer.
The downside: I usually come away inspired and excited. This is year 2 that I have left feeling ho hum. Pattern Review and all the new blogs I visit tend to be my inspiration these days. I must be a cyber-chick! The reason I feel ho-hum is that I think some of the same vendors that have been attending for years bring the same stuff every year and it is not new to me. Many of the merchants seem tired and weary which I find to be contagious. I imagine it's a tough job loading and unloading and dealing with the public day after day.
The big downside: the new vendors that you don't want to give eye contact to...Mary Kay, Laser Hair removal, dudes with microphones selling cookware, chopping vegetables and telling corny jokes. I did witness the Mary Kay gal chasing an older gentleman down the aisle claiming he had to try a sample of the men's cologne "You have to try this it is the BEST men's fragrence" I imagine this man wanted to kick his wife in the tail end for dragging him along. I bet he's not in attendance next year. He'll probably give his darling the credit card and tell her the skies the limit to avoid that sales woman!
Remember...this is one opinion...you may have enjoyed the show and find it fun and informative.
