I took this class earlier today at the Worcester Sewing Expo. I have yet to find a T-shirt pattern that fits properly so I was in desperate need of this class!
Emma had each student try on one of her shirts to get an idea of the pattern size. Her patterns are based on shoulder and bust measurement. Unfortunately the sizing wasn't very accurate as her shirt was tried on over the shirt I was wearing.
I chose a brown and white tropical print stretch fabric and cut out the fabric and pattern. The purpose of the class was to go through the fitting process, so the shoulder seams were stitched and then I put on the shirt so Emma could pin the sides.
The shoulders and bust fit very well however I needed to take in the sides a total of 4 inches. With the sides basted, I still felt that the mid-section was a bit loose so I will most likely add some darts to slim down the shirt a bit.
The pattern that was provided as part of the class also includes a cardigan. The pattern can be viewed at
Emma's web site.
I bought matching fabric and I'm going to make the cardigan as well. Emma was wearing a top and cardigan made from the same pattern and it looked absolutely beautiful.
