Hi
I am making my DD's prom dress and it has two sheer top skirts. I used a rolled hem as a seam instead of french seams. I wanted to press them but the fabric is stretch tulle and the heat would melt it. I got out my handy dandy wall paper roller. I love finding sewing uses for things not originally, meant to be.

I saw something similair, an advertisement for quilters, the person was using what looked like a pizza rolling pin.

I am not clear on this. Did you press it with the wall paper seam roller and no heat or moisture? What type of fiber was it? I ask because I was wondering if this worked with a polyester sheer. Thanks. ETA: I am on dial-up and got to see you pic after I did my comment. I am just amazed it pressed this all down. Your seams look great.

Wallpaper seam roller is standard equipment for leather seam pressing, too. Good to share this tip. -Lily

Yes, Lilyofthevalley is absolutely right - my daughter does a lot of leather sewing and the wallpaper seam roller is standard equipment for her also. She gets a lot of patterns / information from http://SewingWithLeather.com and loves sewing leather items.
