Very important item! I keep a food vacuum seal 'laminated' one as well as a small retractable tape measure along with my PDA which holds my notes(culled from the web and patternshowcase.com) and shopping lists, among other things! I can thank my first ever sewing teacher for starting all of us off in the 6th grade with the habit of carrying one of these along with the tape measure for fabric store shopping trips and bargain hunting! It was this same teacher who made sure we learned a repertoire of hand stitches, how to hand button hole if need be and finish seams-my first simple pair of pants had a Hong Kong finish on it and I am in the habit of using that on many of my garments. Good to start off with good sewing habits, thanks for the useful and info packed link Lou!

What a wonderful tip. Thanks for passing it along. I often end up with "leftovers" and this may be one way of getting my stash back down and under control again. When I use a piece of fabric it will be all used up, no relatives left in the closet!
