The Creatif Festival is a twice a year show in Toronto. The Fall show is always better for classes. While I don't go every year. I did go this spring. Yes many of the venders are the same from year to year. I met several people there I knew. I think most people go for the sales. I do. It is the widest selection of products available at one time in Canada. IF you are looking for a new sewing machine this is the show to go to. All the brands are there with experienced people to help you sort out the options. As I just bought a new sewing machine and the old one was 1953 there was a lot of updating I needed. I took classes on the Janome embroidery software- I'm not interested yet. Several classes on threads/stabilizers. As I said this machine embroidery world is all new to me. I bought thread, got 20 spools for free. I also bought several bits of notions.
There were several places selling books and magazines at good prices. I like buying outdated stitching magazines for 70% off. The book selection was good.
Many people in Canada live in places where there is not a great deal of choice or selection available locally. So if you want to see before you buy this is a place to go. IF you are not happy shopping on the internet and paying lots of shipping and customs and taxes and charges to pay the taxes this is a good weekend retreat. It also depends on the exchange rate.
I walked all day and outspent my budget.
I expect there is more competition and selection in a large US show. Nothing particuarly new or wonderful but I had a good day. Nancy |
