Featured in the PR book!
I made my first zippered pocket recently when using Vogue 8439 to make a purse. When I started to mark the placement lines of the opening, I dreaded what to me had always been failure in making anything like this kind of opening with any precision. Then the light bulb went on and I looked over at my computer and copier. What if I made a copy of the pattern piece with the markings on it, placed that where it belonged on the fabric, and sewed on the paper? Eureka!!! It worked like a charm.
After sewing around the opening, I cut out the center along lines printed on the paper. I then pulled the paper away, first from the outside and then the inside of the stitching. Perfect placement, perfect stitching, perfect cutting, without having to mark anything.
