When I saw Eve's SimFlex Review it brought to mind why I have not bought one yet - nifty as they are. When I have a need to adjust and transfer evenly spaced markings for buttonholes, pleats, etc. I use elastic. I lay the elastic (I usually use clear but have used regular waistband white, too) on my pattern and mark off the placement lines. Then I lay the marked elastic on my fabric and transfer the marks. If the markings are for a smaller size and I need them spread further apart, I just stretch the elastic and the marks automatically space apart and adjust. I pin the elastic in place at top and bottom and then make all the in between marks alongside the stretched elastic. If you don't own a SimFlex, give this a whirl and see if it does the trick for you. (This obviously only works to transfer same size or larger-spaced marks. A SimFlex is the answer for sizing down. I, alas, have never had to size down!)
