At the Pattern Review meeting at Sawyerbrook on Sept. 20 there was interest in more information about URI's Master Seamstress Certificate Program; coincidentally an article ran in the Providence Journal the next day. If you go to the journal's website www.projo.com and do a search for the program's title it should display the complete article, which is well written and gives an excellent overview of the program. I have completed MS I & II and would recommend it. Diane annd Mabel are wonderful teachers, I found their instruction style clear and easy to understand and they are both very motivating. I am more confident about fitting myself than I ever thought I would be and am more likely to consider drafting a pattern myself rather than buying a commercial one and making adjustments. Although sewing techniques are covered this is not a learn to sew class.

Thank you for leaving this message. I have been hoping for a Master Seamstress Program in MA, but no luck so far. Anyone in MA with same thoughts? Any ideas of how to start?

I found out about this course after registration. I am soooo interested for next year but I do want to take some of the MS II courses this year. Which ones did you take? can you recommend any, they all sound great!

I have taken the form draping class, loved it, the personal form that is made from a mold of your body is great; it does take some time but it was easy to complete on the time schedule for the class. Advanced patternmaking was great, but I would recommend waiting until after you have taken MS I which has the first patternmaking course. The pants drafting class was wonderful the instructions were easy to follow and Diane Martin fits each student's muslin in class which gives an opportunity to learn to fit a variety of body types.

I love this program. I have been taking classes for 2 years. I live in MA and drive to RI at least once a week. It only takes about an hour and it is so worth it. I am mentally challanged and I have met an incredible group of ladies who are all fabricholics. My sewing has improved so much from this program. It's priceless.
