In the morning, Lose went over her design concepts and demo'd several techniques. The afternoon was spent trying on her garments and making individual fit suggestions as well as design modificaitons. Because this was held in a fabric store, Loes was able to make fabric coordination suggestions for the last hour of the day. Time was very well spent.
Note: Although the seminar was held in Eugene OR, Loes holds seminars at various fabric stores in the US. |
I attended Loes' seminar at Buttons 'n Bolts in Tucson and was very disappointed -- NOT money well spent! But my dissatisfaction may be due to the location rather than the teacher. The owner does not have real classroom space but, rather, stuffed the students in a storeroom at the back of the store. She was understandably trying to get as many students as possible in order to offset the cost of bring Loes in. Unless you were sitting in the front row, you couldn't see the techniques. The lunch break was not explained or coordinated, and Loes spent a long time walking through the store, talking about some of the fabrics with some of the students. And Loes is the first to tell you she's a designer, not a teacher. Soooo, you can probably learn something from this seminar, but check out the venue first. If it's a makeshift classroom with too many students, don't spend your money!
