The one thing that always puzzles me in BWOF is what size buttons to use. They always tell you how many, but never what size. If you use the wrong size, either your CF will be off, or the buttons will be too close or too far away from the finished edge of the blouse or jacket.
There is a good way to figure this out.
1. On the pattern piece, measure the distance from the center front line to the edge of the garment.
2. Divide this number by 3/4 or 0.75. Your button should be between this number and the measurement you got in step one.
For example, if the measurement between CF and front is 3/4", my button needs to be between 3/4" and 1".
If the measurement between CF and Edge is 1/2", my button needs to be between 1/2" and 5/8" |
How ingenious.

Oh Nancy. This is so simple and just wonderful. I picked up some marvelous buttons @ Britex when I was in SF. Meanwhile I've been agonizing what is the best size. You came to the rescue. TY! ! My request would be if you get a chance -- to add a little picture to illustrate the CF example you used. No wonder you are a 4 Star gal here @ PR. Hugs
