Featured in the PR book!
To protect your buttons for dry cleaning and or washing machine: cover your buttons with velcro tape.
You will need 1 square of velcro the size of your button 1 inch.
From the hook side square cut a slit from the half of one side till just above the centre. Put this part under your button , and cover the button with the soft loop side velcro square.

What a creative idea. Some buttons are so expensive!

Tin foil works well too. I sent my jacket to the drycleaner and when I got it back, the buttons were wrapped in foil. I thought this was very nice of the drycleaner as I had sewn expensive buttons on this jacket. He obvioulsy saw that. I was grateful.

I collect vintage buttons and hesitate to use them because of the inevitable time I have to clean the garment and have always had to remove the buttons and resew them after - so many times I use a vintage looking new button instead - this idea will free me up to enjoy my beautiful buttons again - so smart!
