If you have a favorite softcover sewing book (or cookbook), you can take it to your local copy shop (Kinkos, etc) and have it coil bound. My copy of "Power Sewing Step-by-Step" was not coil bound and would not lay flat. I took it to the copy shop near my office and had it coil bound. It was about $3-4. I have had several other books done this way. So much easier to use because they will lay flat.
Here's it is laying open: http://www.flickr.com/photos/plionberger/3604879851/ |
What a great idea!

This is a great tip! I've done it with some of my favorite "How-to" books & it makes them so much easier to use while learning some new techniques.

I did this with several sewing books as well as my sewing machine instruction books & upgrades. I had pocket pages added & pages to hold the upgrade CDs. A couple of my books had pages that were falling out so this solved several problems.
