Sharpy in hand, I was about to write directly on my machine but I just could not do it , however, I really wanted to have the tension numbers written directly on my coverstitch.
I bought a used Elna online where the previous owner had written directly on the machine. I was slightly appalled at first sight but when I went to use the machine I loved that the tension numbers were RIGHT THERE!!!
Using these little stickers is my compromise and works well.
These tension settings are my starting points as each fabric seems to prefer a slightly different setting from the last one used.

Great idea.

If you've got writing on your machine that you'd like to remove, try using rubbing alcohol on a qtip. With a qtip you can control where you apply the alcohol and the alcohol evaporates almost instantly with no residue left behind. It removes most writing and adhesive from stickers.
