My 3rd Chantilly Expo and it was 3 times better than I remembered. I Really enjoyed the classes and the vendors. I am determinded to sew Slinky with a professional look and I was in luck this year with Emma Seabrook's classes, patterns and fabrics. Excellent and informative classes. She has 3 videos out, one just for Sewing with Slinky. Sew worth the trip!! Visit her site at www.emmaseabrooke.com
Visited at Londa's Creative Threads booth and took a class with her too. She really has taken sweatshirts to a different level and keeps adding new twists and turns to these useful garments. For fun ideas, if you're into sweatshirt jackets, visit her gallery at www.londas-sewing.com . If you are into sewing knits and are in need of clear 1/4" elastic, contact Kathy Ruddy at kathyruddy@earthlink.net. Emma sells it in black along with her own invention of the Knit Stay Tapes.
Loved the vendors and picked up a beautiful embroidery card by Momo-Dini. These are best seen in person. Stunning! They are beautifully digitized and actually blend with the fabrics they are so light and airy. www.momodini.com.
The hotels were a bargain and the area restaurants within a 5 mile radius were really good . If you want to stay at the Expo center, be sure to book the hotel a month or two early. Grab some friends and make a point of going next year. Affordable, informative and tons of fun. I'll see you there.
Rebecca Szetela said... Thanks for the link to the Expo. I did not realize that this is the event that travels to several cities. I will definately check this out when it travels to my area. Thanks for the review. Sounds like a lot of fun! 10/9/09 5:22 AM
