|I took Sarah Veblen's Underlining class in July/ August 2009. I am a relative beginner to sewing so underlining was all new to me.
Sarah provided very detailed notes, including details of how to pin and baste (where to place pins, what to do at corners) that I doubt I would have found in a book). She is a patient and helpful teacher. I couldn't attend the chats but this didn't hamper my learning much - the transcripts were handy and the class board even more so.
Initially I was put off the class by the cost of the kit, but it was extremely useful. Not only was I sure I had the same materials as the teacher is referring to, I was introduced to some nice notions like silk thread and good quality needles.
The kit also meant that everything I needed to complete the practical part of the course was present without me having to make multiple pilgrimages to the fabric store or just not get round to doing it. Completing the mini garments was very valuable and I would urge anyone comtemplating this course to see it as a bonus.
Since I live in New Zealand, PR courses are quite expensive, but I found this one a useful course in a technique I would have trouble learning on my own or finding a real life class in.
I highly recommend this course.
