This class is an introduction to knit fabrics and how to sew them. It now comes with an optional video component which I didn't purchase, so I am reviewing the "traditional" part of the course only (the lessons, chat, board and kit).

Like the other Sarah Veblen class I have taken, the lessons were very clearly written, the chat transcripts were useful and Sarah answers questions on the board very quickly and fully. She is a very approachable and knowledgeable teacher and is willing to answer questions about relevant projects as well as the stuff directly taught in class.

I had already sewn with knits a bit, using trial and error, some Threads articles and the many helpful tips on PR. So I didn't gain as much from the "techniques" lessons as from the samples provided in the kit and the discussion of these in the early lessons. One lesson (or was it two?) related to overlockers, but apart from those everything taught could be done on a regular machine.

I'd recommend this course for beginners to knits or those who've had a few failures and want some guidance. If you've done a bit of sewing with knits and got used to how all-important the stretch is, I'd probably recommend looking at other PR courses first. Sarah is a great teacher!

Lyndle-I agree, Sarah is a wonderful teacher. She definitely knows the the subject that she is teaching and is most patient when helping students with problems or answering questions. Strange, but sometimes I feel as though she's right there with us when she's advising. I have taken all the classes that Sarah has offered through Pattern Review and I am so very glad that I did. Some had more material in their kits than other classes did so, consequently, the classes were a bit more expensive but believe me, they were worth every cent and more. The techniques that I've learned from Sarah's classes have helped me tremendously in furthering my sewing skills and I've been sewing for many years. Sometimes just learning new ways of doing something that you have been doing the same way for a long time can result in that "Ah ha" moment that will move your sewing along quicker that you thought possible. That has happened to me with Sarah's classes. Now I am just waiting for her to post some of the new ones she's working on. I have also taken some of Shannon's, Kenneth's, and Susan's, classes and if anyone is hesitating about PR's online classes - don't- find a subject that you'd like to learn and go for it! You won't be sorry.
