John Deer was in town for a two day digitizing retreat. I enrolled early for $99.00 instead of the full price of $129.00.

I can say that I wish that I had saved my money or spent it on other items for machine embroidery.

As you can tell from the URL above, there is a book that he has written called Digitizing Made Easy. This retreat was based on the book, and did not go into the little detail that the book goes into.

Of the two days, John only talked maybe 30 minutes on actual digitizing, and that is a serious stretch. Was that worth the price tag for me? NO.

Having said that, I will say that I did have a good time, and it was worth me paying the money to be able to shut my phone off for two days.

The retreat is nothing more than a sales pitch, designed to get you to purchase whatever brand of machines that is hosting him for the retreat. (In my case it was Babylock) Even more sales pitch is to get you to buy his entire embroidery library. Granted the price is 'good' (About 700), but I came there with the intention of learning a little more about digitizing, not walking away with someone else's designs. If you just need a zillion designs for the price, then you might want to attend. Please know that there are limitations on the # of times you can stitch out the designs for selling.

If you want to have a couple of days listening to John, or seeing some beautiful stitchouts, then spend the duckets. If you are wanting to learn about digitizing, your money is best spent elsewhere.

Looked at this class too, but already was taking another, sorry it was just a sales pitch. I'm currently working on my Janome Digitizer Pro/MB, finding the extra purchase of the dvd by T. Conquergood worth the extra $ it took to get it. They only have classes on this a few times a year.
