What can one say...Shannon Gifford did a fantastic job on instructing this class in jean making. I had always wanted to sew jeans but never really followed through with it until now. Considering all the jean fabric I have acquired from an uncle I thought this would be the opportunity to use some of it and learn some new techniques in the process.
The class was structured nicely over a 2 1/2 week time period with students being given course materials on a daily basis Monday-Friday. These materials were in .pdf document form so you could easily print them out and place them in a notebook for future reference. I also downloaded them to my computer so I could have my laptop in the sewing room to refer back to as well while sewing on my jeans.
Another nice feature was the classroom thread which gave everyone the opportunity to post questions and comments as well as pics of our work.
Additionally there were three online chat sessions of an hour each over the three week time period that allowed students to ask even more questions of the instructor and converse with fellow students in real time.
This was a great feature but a little difficult for me. Our online chats were at 10PM EST which is well beyond my bedtime considering I'm up at 4:30 am everyday. It is hard to pick a time when everyone can participate in these chats considering students are participating from across the country as well as around the globe.
Given those circumstances it did not affect my feelings on the course. It was a FANTASTIC class in which I learned a great deal about jean construction plus some short cuts too! I highly recommend you taking it when Shannon and PR offers it in the future. I give it an A plus plus plus
Side Note: I edited this right after submitting it and the site wouldn't accept my edits unless I gave a State and Country of the classes location. The class was online but I took it from NY. :-D
