Designer Courses runs s number of craft based courses in Central london (near Chancery Lane / Holborn). They run courses on sewing and dressmaking - but also on leather working, jewelry making and other fashio-related crafts.
This was my second course with them and their wonderful sewing instructor - Lena Sentana (www.lenasentana.com).
The course covered making our own patterns using a dress form. It was an 8 week course n which we tried to make patterns for a blouse, a skirt and a dress. After that we went through how to mark and measure out the body form and then use muslin to drape our pattern pieces, Right from the start we were encouraged to experiment with our shapes and draping.
The courses were great fun - with a great teacher who encouraged us all the way through. What was especially inspiring was the Lena would bring items from her own clothing line and show us how she had put them together using the techniques we went through.
So after my 8 weeks I finished with 3 garments - two of which I am very happy with, 1 of which I will put down to experience! I'll let you choose which one is which...
