Wearing ease is the minimum amount of ease needed for comfort. This is added to your measurement.
"Design ease" is above and beyond the wear ease.
These are the measurements that Kenneth King recommends. I keep this posted at my cutting table for easy reference.
Kenneth King's Wearing Ease Minimums for Torso
Bust -3 inches
Waist - 2 inches
Full hip -2 inches
Armhole- 1 -1/2 inches
Bicep- 1 1/2 inches
These numbers are good starting points. You will eventually figure out exactly how much you prefer. Ease for Knits vs. Wovens can differ a bit.
(You can also measure the ease of your most comfortable clothing by subtracting your measurement from the meaurement of the garment. Determine what works best for you and make certian to keep notes where you will be able to find them later on)
