An easy way to space your buttonholes without marking, pinning, or measuring - look for landmarks on your sewing machine and use those to line up your buttonholes. If you look at the image, you'll see that my previous buttonhole, slid to the left lines up with a line on my machine. Simply by sliding the shirt along as I make the buttonholes, I end up with evenly spaced holes with minimal fuss.

Now I am beginning to see how you get so much sewing done. I'll bet you have a lot more of these shortcuts in your bag of tricks!

I use 'landmarks' on my machine for other things (wider seam allowances, etc.) but had not thought about it for button holes. Great idea!
