I have always maintained the philosophy that there is room for improvement, learning something new, and you are never too old to take on a new adventure. I have just completed my third Couture class from Ms. Shaeffer, and am looking forward to taking others.
Claire’s classes are packed with the techniques that she has learned and continues to perfect. We have all heard the saying “it’s all in the details”; and, this is just the class to deliver on that message.
If you have had a chance to read any of her books or pattern guide sheets, then you have an idea of how compassionate she is about the subject of Couture and its very special details. In this class, you will see those techniques demonstrated, have the opportunity to make a sample, get your questions answered, and techniques critiqued. Most of us don't have the time to make a garment totally "Couture"; but there are times when a Couture technique or detail can get us out of pickle, or offer something special to an otherwise ordinary garment.
If you are looking to improve the quality of your garments details, consider taking this class from Claire the next time it is offered. Perfecting the details of a garment will set your garment apart from one that looks “homemade” to a garment that delivers a message of “very special”.
I have never been particularly happy with the result of my welt pockets. Once I was able to watch Claire’s techniques and try them out, I am looking forward to putting them on my next jacket. I may not make them totally “Couture”, but I have the techniques in my back pocket and can pull them out when I need to.
The week spent in Palm Springs will be filled with learning new techniques, perfecting skills, and making new friends. You will be surrounded by individuals that speak the same language you do. When was the last time you were in a room filled with people where you didn't have to explain a sewing term? Sometimes the room will be filled with laughter, and other times it will be so quiet you can hear a pin drop. I would encourage anyone that wants to improve upon their garment's details to take this wonderful Sewfari Workshop. Claire keeps reminding me that she is going to retire someday, so don’t wait too long.

The workshop sounds fantastic. How much does she charge?

The cost of this workshop was $995, which covers 5 intense days and a dinner (meet & greet) at her house the night before the first class.

Alania. Thanks for your review. How did you find out about Mrs. Shaeffers classes? I tried to find information online but wasn't able to. Thanks for your help. Marie

Thank you. I'm about to start on my first C S pattern and intend to at least make a muslin for as many as possible in a ticipation of attending one of her workshops. Your review inspires me to continue with my plan. Thank you.
