| I thought I would share the simple way I make my thread spindles / spool pins taller. When I got my Singer 401A , I was having problems with my Gutermann thread working on the shorter spindles , so my husband suggested a way he thought would work. He found me some heavy clear DRINKING STRAWS that slid right over my spindle and fit tight enough to stay on. absolutely worked great. You cut them the height you want. I use this idea to make any spindle taller.when needed. The straws come in different sizes , so there is a straw that will fit any spindle [ I would think]. I like the clear ones, but you could use a colored one if you would like. |
Never thought about it for the sewing machine, but I've used straws on thread holders to make the spindles longer.

I use drinking straws on my thread rack. If I buy two spools of the same color, I just put them on one peg with a straw.
