I found a help for sewing on belt loops I positioned a belt loop to be sewn on a waistband. Then just behind the belt loop I placed another belt loop strip doubled over. That second strip worked as a “platform” to help the machine feed and stitch that thick bunch of denim without sliding off, failing to feed the fabric or otherwise botching the process. Success!

Very clever and helpful... saves time searching for the tool that would also be helpful in this situation.
