When laying out and cutting slippery fabric , I first put a flannel-lined vinyl tablecloth, flannel side up, over my cutting table- the flannel keeps the slippery fabric in place, and catches loose threads too- I chose a large enough size that drapes over the table and hangs down a ways, so the weight adds stability-and the tablecloth doesn't slide around.
