keeping bobbins with matching spool of thread (Tip/Technique)

My new sewing machine doesn't sew well unless the thread in the bobbin is exactly the same type as the stitching thread. To keep the thread spool and bobbin together, I use a long nail with a large head. Place the thread spool with the matching bobbin on top and drop the nail into the center hole of the bobbin. The nail keeps both together until I need that type of thread again.
My thread collection is stored in drawers. Having the bobbin on top also makes it easier to see the thread color.
