This was my first time at the Puyallup Expo. I went to Novi a couple of years ago so I wasn't a complete novice. Puyallup is much bigger than Novi.
I did a two day event of classes and shopping. Oh, and shopping. The booths were fabulous. I know most of the items can now be found on the internet, but this was like walking through the internet. And you could touch and play with the stuff before you bought it. Classes and vendors were scattered into 4 areas and the PNW weather actually cooperated for the most part - I never had to transferse in the rain. And having it spead out helped with crowd control. I was quite proud of myself - I didn't buy any fabric (didn't want to haul it back to the East coast) but I did find some nifty notions, zippers, interfacing, videos, ideas. I took one of my Sandra Betzina books and she signed it for me (um to the wrong first name, LOL).
My favorite class was serger class where we used the TOL Babylocks. I may be in love with the air threader. My other classes were all lectures and still very good informative. Even the "info-mercial" classes are fun.
I will likely go back again next year, as we will be moving to the Washington area soon. YEA!

hpthecat said... Wow! you came all the way from the East Coast? Now I really feel lucky I only live a few miles from the fairgrounds. Washington State takes it's sewing very seriously! LOL...the show is always great. This was the first year I took lectures...next year I definitely want to take full day classes. If you come to the sew Expo-- take full advantage of the classes!! I learned sooo much! and plan subsequent days to shop. It really does take more than a day to appreciate the Sew Expo. 5/13/11 4:20 AM
