|Louise Cutting was the invited speaker at our ASG annual meeting. Two lectures - morning and afternoon, plus lunch made for a very entertaining and educational Saturday. She had plenty of samples of her patterns. No strong "push" to buy, which was nice. She demonstrated many of the techniques used in her designs so you could try the suggestions at home with your pattern collection. She also explained bust dart rotation that finally made sense to me, and suggested adding darts to her patterns if you are a C-cup or beyond. Louise also showed how to find your most flattering proportion/length for capris or longer skirts (below the knee) -- measure between the knee and the floor, divide this measurement into thirds. The 1st or the 2nd third will be "your" finished hem guideline. No more lucky or unlucky guessing. She also went over her One-Seam pants pattern and alterations. I left with many notebook pages full of good ideas and tips, and three of her patterns -- Town & Country, Farewell to Arms and Less Is More. It was hard to decide which ones to get, they were all tempting. Hopefully I'll be posting reviews of them soon! Definitely seize the opportunity to attend her seminars and classes.
Geez, I must need a Diet Vanilla Coke! I meant to put the update here, not in comments.
OK, I made the Less is More vest and absolutely LOVED it! What a great pattern. Please check out my review! I can't wait to try the other patterns I bought.
