Web site/URL: Bust Adjustments
Bust Adjustments with Sarah Veblen covers both full bust adjustments (fba) and small bust adjustments (sba). The class includes some half-scale patterns to practice on. There are seven lessons including fba with princess seams, raglan sleeves, traditional side darts, variations on side darts, sba's, fixing up the darts and seams after adjustments are made, and how to readjust a fba if you went too far. Most of the class members where interested in fba's, but I signed up because of the sba information. Information was presented in a plain and understandable way. Sarah was a great instructor and answers questions promptly. I asked a few that were probably really obvious to others, but she still gave me a great answer without making me feel silly. Very nice to have an instructor that leaves you encouraged to ask questions and not embarrassed for asking a dumb one or two. :)

I don't normally (read: ever) need to make adjustments, so I really hadn't paid much attention to the fba info in my Fit Review class, afterall, I could just refer to the book. But, then my sister asked if I could help her with sewing some clothes beyond basic pj's. Of course, I made her fit the pattern--and she needs sba, something I had a hard time finding helpful info on. Luck would have it, this class was starting about the same time. Woohoo!

Truthfully, when I signed up, I really was thinking I'd just be able to use the info when helping my sister (or making stuff for both sisters), but after being in the class, I realize I can use the info for myself on my collection of vintage patterns. They're almost never the perfect size (sometimes too small, sometimes to large), and with vintage you often just have to take the size you find and work with it. Now, I can make those adjustments and enjoy my patterns.

What a lovely story. I wish I had taken this class years ago when I purchased a great vintage dress that was huge in the bust!

I really enjoy Sarah Veblen's classes too. I think I have taken 5. She is an excellent teacher. I am considering this class because I wear a C cup but if I make my high bust size, it turns out too big. I have a small frame. Glad you are able to help your sister too now. I am helping my daughter that is 19 how to sew. She is built completely different than mysself.
