I have a Babylock Evolution serger. One of the very few disappointments about it was how poorly the gathering foot worked. I always gathered with my previous serger, a Viking Husqvqrna 910, and it worked great. I was at a class at my dealer's recently and the salesperson happened in while I was trying to gather. We asked if she had any hints on gathering. She showed us that the gathering foot was packed in the box with the blade on the bottom that pushes the fabric in a flat position. She took the foot and bent the blade at an angle. It now works great! Since gathering feet for all sergers are similar I assume you could do this on any foot. It sure worked on all the sergers in class that day.

Another trick I learned that day was to hold my finger behind the foot as the fabric was being serged to increase the gathers. If you are still not satisisfied with the amount of fullness just serge it a second time.

thank you - I will try that on my serger. I haven't used the attachment yet

Could you provide a photo of the angle? I am reluctant to experiment on a hard to get foot- my local dealer no longer carries Viking.

I have never tried any of the many feet that came with my serger, as there were no instructions with them. Thanks for the info.
