|Carol Ann Waugh, an award-winning art quilter, shares her unique technique for creating texture, color and interest using the stitches on your sewing machine. The beautiful marriage of variegated threads, colors and interesting thread paths creates results that are worthy of framing. The class demonstrates the techniques in a concise and easy to follow format and the Craftsy platform allows the student to stop and review the material at any time as well as moving ahead.
Carol Ann discusses at length the types of supplies she enjoys and there are resource materials that can be printed to use as well. I was able to follow along and complete several samples with ease. I felt the material was covered in a practical, organized, and logical way. The class sessions showed step by step the methods used by the instructor. There are numerous postings by current and former students and the work they created by taking the class.
Even thought it is a "virtual" classroom, the process of learning this technique felt very collaborative. I posted a few questions and was pleased to have them answered by the instructor in less than 24 hours. Seeing what other students are asking as well helped to open my mind to other thought lines.
The Craftsy platform is a wonderful place to learn techniques that may not be available in your geographic area in a traditional classroom. I love the ability to have access to the class forever. In today's world of multi-tasking, it is great to have a very perfect record of the class information for review at any time. The note-taking feature is wonderful and allows the student to keep track of the class segments that were noteworthy.
