When cutting out a bias cut item, invariably there is a lot of waste. These pieces are shaped oddly, and never seem to be big enough to create a second wearable item without compromising the first item.
Place a row of books along where you've cut your bias piece and cut off strips in the width of the bias tape you'd like to have. Then iron it, in half or in quarters, lengthwise.
There you are, custom bias tape. Fewer scraps!

Thank you for such a practical idea. I'm going to dig out all those triangular pieces and put them to use. Some are beautiful fabrics that I can't bear to discard, but I was stumped about what to do with triangles.
