I've just learned the hard way not to attach a jacket hem to the lining hem with machine stitch (long story). After finally unpicking the whole lot - believe me, won't be making that mistake again! - the lining was looking a bit worse for wear, with multiple needle hole marks. Acetate dislikes unpicking as much as I do.
So what to do? I've never used decorative hem finishes before, but had some ribbon handy and folded it round the frazzled edge of my lining. Five minutes later you'd never know there was a chewed up edge lurking under the nice black ribbon and I can now call it a design feature.... |
Nice save!

Amazing, isn't it, how often a desgn element is a coverup of some sort?
