I really liked this DVD. There are three sections.
1. Fitting the upper torso. 2. Fitting Jackets. 3. Fitting skirts and Trousers.
These DVD's are very well done. You can clearly see exactly what Kenneth is doing to the muslin and the paper pattern. He uses his method of pinching and slashing to make adjustments, explains all the alterations very clearly and shows the mechanics of each adjustment. Interspersed are tips and explanations of techniques.
The same process is used in each DVD. The muslin is adjusted, pinning or slashing in the appropriate place, the adjustments are transferred to the paper pattern, a second muslin is made and tweaked with the adjustments transferred to the paper pattern and then the garment is modeled in the fashion fabric.
The models are various shapes and sizes so a broad range of adjustments are covered.
Included with the DVD are 4 articles on Kenneth's fitting methods. A new approach to Fitting, Fine-tune a Bodice Front, Fitting a Sleeveless Garment and Fitting Over Layers. These articles appeared in Threads magazine in 2010.
The only difficulty I had was with the first DVD. I had a hard time understanding how some of the adjustments translated from the muslin to the pattern because of the design of the pattern (Vogue 8833). It has a shawl collar and pleats coming off the shoulder. Watching the DVD a second time helped, but I think this is something that will take a number of viewings before I understand how to transfer some of the adjustments to the paper pattern.
This is the first time that I have viewed Kenneth's pants fitting methods. Some of the techniques I am familiar with but the adjustment he used to correct the diagonal lines on the back leg is very different from anything I have seen in the past. I have this fitting issue so am anxious to try it.
All in all I think this DVD set is worth the $149 I paid for it.
I do not think this is a good fitting DVD for beginners. It does not explain what size pattern you need or how to take measurements. I think some basic understanding of flat pattern making is a prerequisite.
