This sewing technique is for easing in a flared skirt hemline for hemming. I use my overlock/serger to do this and it's very easy. I use a single left needle on my serger so it's threaded with 3 threads. (Left needle, upper and lower loopers) I lengthen my stitch to my longest stitch and tighten the tension on my needle thread. I feed the fabric into the machine without pulling or pushing the fabric. It simply gathers the hemline very slightly to pull it in so when you turn up the hemline it's just the right size. If it ends up too tight, just adjust the ease around the hemline.
