|This fitting class consists of 10 lessons:
Design Rules & Considerations: Barbra talks about the tools of Design, line, fabric color & texture, proportion, fabric color and texture, fabric pattern.
Working with dress forms: Demonstrates how to make a dress form using paper tape.
Taking Measurements: Gives you tips' on measuring and talks about ease and selecting pattern size.
Adjusting for Width: Calculating the adjustments, making the adjustments and some information on pants & other garments
Adjusting for Length: She tells you how to calculate the adjustments you will need, decreasing/increasing length, sleeve adjustments and crotch seam adjustments.
Adjusting for the Bust: Barbara explains about darts, finding the apex, making the bust adjustments, checking the adjustments and rotating darts & princess seams.
Figure Variations: Barbara talks about the rounded upper back, large upper arms, two piece sleeves & armscye seams, rounded abdomen and rounded backside.
Basted Garment: She explains the importance of the basted fitting and how to baste.
Fitting & Finishing Your Garment: In this lesson Barbara gives you fitting tips, checking the fit; underarm area & unwanted lines, neckline & shoulder seam length, sleeve caps & bust darts, princess & side seams, the back, fitting pants & skirts, adjusting pattern pieces and making it permanent.
Designs Variations: This is a really fun part, Barbara shows three different version of the pattern and explains how she made the changes to get three totally different looks.
This class if chock full of information and not just for the plus size woman.
A lot of the information in this class can be found in Barbara's book, "Sewing for Plus Sizes". It is a good companion to the class.
I totally enjoyed this class. Barbara's teaching style is relaxed and fun. She tells it like it is and makes you feel that no matter what your body shape or size good fashion is attainable for all of us.
