I absolutely loved this class. I have been on a quest all my sewing life to learn how to get patterns to fit. I have taken classes at sewing Expo's. I have taken a number of 4 day workshops. I bought pattern drafting software. I think I have just about every pattern fitting book on the market and numerous DVDs' on pattern fitting.
This class made all the information I had been accumulating over the last 5 years (actually the last 30 years) coalesce and pattern fitting is making sense.
The pattern used is Vogue 8766
There are 10 lessons
Lesson 1: Introduction
Lesson 2: Taking Measurements
Lesson 3: Muslin Test Garment
Lesson 4: Fitting Standards
Lesson 5: Neck & shoulders
Lesson 6: Upper Body
Lesson 7: Lower body
Lesson 8: Sleeves
Lesson 9: Armholes
Lesson 10: Truing the Pattern
Lynda uses 3 fit models, a younger woman with larger hips, a plus size woman with a very full bust and full hips and an older woman with a rounded back.
The method is very similar to Sarah Veblen and Kenneth Kings. You assess the muslin, starting at the top and working your way down. You pinch out fabric where the muslin is too big and slash the muslin adding strips of fabric where it is too small. Sounds simple and in a way it is, however it was watching how Lynda did it and having her explain why she pinched/slashed where she did was the key to my understanding this method.
You can use this method by yourself; however it will be so much easier if you have someone to help you.
IMO this is not a class for someone new to sewing. You also need some knowledge of garment sewing because you are going to have to sew the dress muslin together.
I hope that everyone that takes this class gets as much enjoyment out of it as I did.
