I've just been pressing 6 pleats on the back of a skirt. They are closely spaced together, and have been rather a pain to get flat and neat. It was starting to seriously bug me. The latest attempt was not very professional looking. My attempt at improvisation has worked much better.

Take two large hardbacks of equal thickness. Butt the non spine sides together. Take your kick pleat and carefully wedge in between the two books until the fabric lies smoothly and everything is lined up. Push books together. It will now stay put. Take a thick cloth which will absorb the steam and protect the book. Place underneath the fabric. Press this side of the pleat with pressing cloth as usual. Switch sides. Repeat.

Result, pressing without shifting or marks from kick pleat showing through (press mark). Even better, its free and easily to hand!

As requested, photo now added to clarify.

Could you post a picture of this, I'm having a really hard time picturing how you did this and I have some straight skirts in my future with various back treatments... one of which is multiple pleats. TIA
