|I initially hesitated to take this craftsy class as it was quite a bit more expensive than a typical class. However, I decided my sewing hobby (habit?) was worth the cost if I justified the expense by bundling with the dress sloper patternmaking class, offered with the skirt sloper class for a substantial savings.
I could not be happier with my purchase. Suzy Furrur is an exceptional instructor. Her speech is clear, articulate (no uhms and ahs and ya knows). She is organized, efficient (not a lot of unnecessary repeating of information - she clarifies and moves on). And she is clearly knowledgeable and confidently presents the details and 'big picture' of patternmaking. This class has so much more information than I assumed when signing up. Beyond the drafting of a skirt sloper from measurements and drafting several basic fashion styles (a line, bias, circle, etc), she shows the fundamentals of good pattern drafting and production markings. You will understand why and how to mark your patterns. I can see how this class would really benefit someone starting in the production pattern business, but for a home sewer who wants to make better, simple patterns from my own sloper, this class is a must.
A bit about my background: I've recently taken Kenneth King's hands-on moulage class from the Sewing and Design studio in Tacoma. An excellent class. Probably the best four days of classes I've ever experienced. For those of you lucky enough to have taken his class, Suzy's class dovetails perfectly with the fitted moulage/dress sloper. I am inspired to draft simple patterns for myself knowing the basics of good patternmaking fundamentals I learned from this class.
I highly recommend this class! I am looking forward to the dress sloper patternmaking class next.
