need help in edge finishes (Tip/Technique)

hi... sorry, I am not adding any tip/technique but i need help.... i recently bought a simplicity pattern 9469. I want to try sewing the shirt and pants. However, something puzzles me. I am not sure when I should edge finish my material to prevent fraying and have a smarter finish. Doing it before sewing would distort the seam allowance and notches. Can anyone tell me what to do?

	sassylady said... Affter you sew a seam do a zig zag stitch right beside it,in the seam allowance then trim your seam.Some machines have a serger type stitch you could try. Happy Sewing 1/12/04 3:59 PM
