I picked this tip up in a Craftsy class. If you need to make pattern adjustments like I do, you have to add a little here and there to your pattern piece. Adding machine tape is cheap, readily available and is great for adding width or length to a pattern piece. Just tear off the amount needed, tape it to the seam that needs width or length added, mark off the new cutting line and cut the adjusted pattern piece.

Great tip! I have several rolls of this and always need to add length to my patterns. Yippee.

I use it for pattern adjustments and also to stabilize seams of shear fabric. Place it under the seam you are sewing. The feed dogs grab the paper, not the shear fabric. You can tear the paper off easily after sewing these tricky seams.
