This class was given at Club tissus by Dorothee Barnes. The class is an intensive five week course. The jacket will take you at least 40 hours to complete. The first time you make a jacket it will take you the full 40 hours. The second time you make a jacket will take maybe about 20 hours to make.
We used Jalie 2108. The jackets we made are based on the Kanuk jacket. We used the base part of the pattern and the rest we did on our own the. Obviously we modified many things from the pattern. We usd the arms the front the back and the hood. All of which we modified.
we are given a very detailed step by step instructions to go along with this class. You will learn how to do a pocket with the measurements of your hand. You learn how to do a pocket in 6 steps. zippers will be a breeze and you learn how to use duct tape in sewing.
As with all of Dorothy's classes we learned how to modify a pattern. This class was very intense. What was the most difficult were yhe princess seam pockets. The work is not too advanced but it is Labour intensive.
I took this class with my husband, Simon. He had never sew zippers or pockets and now he is an expert!
Our jackets are guaranteed to be warm up to -35 degrees Celsius. Let me tell you the jacket is HOT!
I would recommend this class to anyone that wants to make a first class winter jacket. But be warned...you need time, you can't wait to do your homework. But the results are worth it. we have jackets that people cannot believe we made ourselves. This is the most ambitious project we ever did. Any class after this is a breeze!
