I had to cut some Levi's down for one of my sons, and was trying to find helpful tips on removing 2 rivets, near the outside of each front pocket, right by the side seam. I won't be bothering to put new rivets in...he'll wear these out in a few months anyway.

So, I read yoru suggestion and thought I'd add something to it. My husband has this great tool, made by Channellock. It's a Channellock 911 cable cutter. It's got a wide, flat surface that can fit under the rivet or stud. It still necessary, at least with Levi Strauss jeans, to separate the rivet a bit from the fabric, but it doesn't take much and then you just slide the cable cutter underneath, and close the handles on it to cut the stud and voila!! Very easy. Just make sure you don't nip any fabric in the process.

He doesn't use this tool anymore, and it's kind of worn out, so I inherited it after he saw how useful it was for the sewing room.

This system definitely easier than anything I've read or seen on Youtube.

Great idea! I'll have to check in our garage to see if we have one of these tools.
