This class, offered at City Quilter in NYC, was just terrific. In a very reasonably priced ($65) 6-hour class with Diane Rode Schneck, we tried about 8 different techniques in string and crumb piecing throughout the day. Diane offered some historical background and tons of hands-on work. Several of the 11 participants ended up well on their way to finished products, producing approximately 10 finished 10" squares each. The technique was right up my alley because you don't have to measure or really plan and still end up with wonderful squares. It was very freeing.

Diane is an easy going, flexible, creative, intelligent, pleasant, helpful teacher who displayed many of her quilts for us to refer to (including her selvage quilt you may have seen in...ooh, I forgot the name of the book).

I am definitely going to use this technique and would take any class offered by Diane and City Quilter without hesitation. The store offers a 15% discount on their goods the week before and during the class. They have a wide array of fabrics in the typical $8-$9 range and the staff is pleasant and helpful, delivering fabrics to you as you work in the class if needed. The machines were up to par and the room ample for our needs.

I learned a lot and had fun -- and ended up with two pillow tops and then some. I highly recommend this class - but sign up quickly when the notices come out or you'll get closed out!
