I took the full seminar weekend at Haberman Fabrics on 3/5, 3/6 and 3/7. I thought this was a GREAT seminar. Cecelia is wonderful! Her personality is great and she has had so much experience. She spent extra time before and after the seminar helping anyone who needed it.
The seminar reviewed all of her patterns, book and pressing video (which were available for sale and the store offered a discount if you purchase during the seminar). She explained the differences in her patterns vs. commercial patterns. She also spent a lot of time of different techniques and the benefits of these techniques.
Part of all of the sessions was on fitting. I own 4 or 5 different fitting books, yet still learned several new options for my fitting problems. As a previous college instructor, Cecelia knows how to present the material to the group. In addition, she has samples of her patterns made up in different sizes so you can try them on. She then shows you the types of alterations you should make based on your own personal fit. VERY valuable!
I did purchase her collection of patterns and hope to be making something soon from them. I have already used some of the fitting and pressing techniques.
Cecelia does provide her email address and phone number for assistance while sewing. In addition, she offers hands-on sewing classes in Vancouver each June. I am hoping to attend next year.
If you get the chance to attend one of her seminars, I think you will be pleased. |

I attended Cecilia's Casual Jacket session in Fall 2003 at the Sewing & Needlework Festival in Toronto. It was a great session, and she was very thorough and personable. I like her patterns. The measurements are actually realistic and instructions easy to follow. I hope to attend more of her sessions this fall if they are offered.

I also took an all day seminar on her Fearless Casual Jacket. And true to her word, Cecilia WAS available for telephone advice while I not-so-fearlessly made up her pattern, my first ever jacket. She even returned a phone call at her own expense. A very classy lady.
