The next spring show is coming up April 16, 17 and 18. I attended the show in 2003, and after seeing Terry's review, I though I'd share another view point. I purchased a VIP pass and attended the show last year (2003) for all three days. The show suffered somewhat from the SARS scare that kept away many vendors and attendees. However, it offered a different format from the Fall show, and one that I appreciated very much. I liked the fact that I didn't have to prebook any of the sessions and also that they were overviews rather than indepth courses. Sometimes, you just don't want that much information. The seminars I attended were great: Kathrynne Brenne, Cecilia Podolak, and Ron Collins were full of useful and interesting information. I also had a lot of fun shopping for fabric--a ton of great buys from Ann's Fabrics (linen and silks for $10 / yd.) and Fabric Fabric (more silk and linen), and of course picked up some great patterns from the Sewing Workshop and Cecilia Podolak. I found this format less busy and had more time to chat with the teachers and vendors.
Since I like to knit, quilt and machine embroider in addition to sewing, I found most of the booths quite interesting and there was lots to do and see. This year's show promises to be even better with more vendors and more sessions. I think it's worth checking out. I bought the VIP pass again and I'm taking my sister this year. |
