Many patterns will tell you to sew again under the armhole to increase strength of armhole. Instead of trying to go back and sew again under the arm try this. I start sewing on one side between the shoulder and the side seam, follow this all around and end up on the other side between the shoulder and side seam. This means you go all around the armhole and under the arm is sewn twice.
