This is the show at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, CA. I don't know if other shows are any better.
Such a sad, little show. :( I went because Sandra Betzina was doing a fitting class, and I could only go to the pants fitting ASG class a few weeks ago.
There were some really good aspects to the show, which is why I gave it one star, instead of a thumbs down. Sandra Betzina was there; I'll review her class separately. The local ASG chapter was there, and I learned that Livermore has a neighborhood meeting every month. YAY!!! Annette Holmberg was there; she's the faux chenille maven.
Treadle Art and Dublin Sewing Center were there. Ray's Sewing center, Pfaff (maybe that's Ray's), and Cactus Punch were there. There was a vendor selling Hawaii style fabric. That might have tempted me, if I didn't have such a large stash of woven cottons. There was a trim vendor with some really nice stuff; he was the only one I bought from.
There were several quilting vendors, but I'm not really into quilting anymore, so I skipped them.
They were so desparate from vendors that they filled space with Creative Memories, a fingernail vendor, spices, a woman selling jumpers out of quilting cottons, and that glass cleaner guy.
I think the worst part is that Pleasanton Fairgrounds charges $8 to park, then it's $6 to enter. I suppose you could carpool, but that's a really high price for such a sad, little show. The Pacific International Quilt Festival is a better place for sewists than this was.
Of course, it was so empty that you didn't have any problems talking to any of the vendors. I don't see how this show is going to survive. |
