I took this class at the Sew-Quilt Embroidery Festival that I just reviewed.

Sandra Betzina was excellent. She's an outstanding teacher and interesting lecturer. She brought her samples and "closet" so you could see her patterns made up. She had the skirt, jacket, trouser, and jean samples to try on, and she fit everyone in the jacket and one bottom. I had her fit me in the jacket and skirt.

The class cost about $60, which was quite a bit more than the ASG class that I took. I'm including the cost of parking and entrance to the show because the only reason I went to this show was this class.

The class was held in a corner of the building which was curtained off from the rest of the show. We used Sandra Betzina's Closet to change behind. This would be a big problem if you are a modest person because no other facilities were available to change nearby, and pretty much anyone could have walked in on you. The class is all women, and no one did walk in, but modest people should be aware of this limitation.

The room was too small. We were packed in there. It didn't get hot because the facility is well air conditioned. There really wasn't enough room to look at Sandra Betzina's clothing.

Sandra Betzina had told PCMexpo to limit the class to 20 people, but they increased the class to 25. Sandra Betzina fit everyone, but the class ran way longer than the 3 hours. I lucked out because I was the 4th person fit, but it could have been problematic for someone who had a tight schedule and didn't get pick to be fit first.

The ASG Sandra Betzina class had chairs at tables setup in a circle around Sandra Betzina, so we could easily write notes. This class had a double circle of chairs, tightly spaced. I could write on my lap, but, again, I felt like we were packed in like sardines.

In the end, I think it was totally worth it to be able to try on the pattern samples, be fit by Sandra Betzina, and (hopefully) know exactly what to do to get a great garment from her patterns. The reason I didn't give this class 3 stars is that show management messed things up. If this is the only way you get access to Sandra Betzina, it's totally worth it with all the pitfalls. However, if you can see her in another forum, like the ASG meeting, that is a much better option.

I took this seminar at a local fabric store. It's too bad your class didn't get the coordination it deserved. I was surprised to find out that she is really funny and kind of a wiseguy. That doesn't come through on television. I would also recommend this class.

I have had similar or worse experiences at classes that are held at these Expos. Sandra is such a good sport, so I bet she made the best of the situation. Let us know if you sew one of the garments she fitted on you.

I love SB. I took a class from her at the ASG conference and would love to take a fitting class like this. I wish she would come to Boston :(

I got to see Sandra too, a few years ago. I was trying to find a curtain, and ran right into her, wearing her bra! She didn't care, she just cracked up. She even let me have a picture taken with her. I have it hanging over my machine. Even when she isn't saying a thing, she oozes energy, fun and mischief!
